Canines are undoubtedly one of the most innocent creatures on the planet. Even the smallest things in life, like taking a stroll or seeing their owners arrive back home from work, bring immense joy to our furry companions. However, some dogs struggle with exploring the outdoors, particularly those with disabilities. Unlike other dogs, these pups find it challenging to navigate through rough terrains, thick vegetation, and even bodies of water – all of which are areas that canine wheelchairs cannot access.
It’s unfortunate that some beaches may not be accessible for dogs, considering how much they love it. The feeling of pure joy at the beach is multiplied tenfold for our furry friends. This is why Salima Kadaoui made sure her 18 disabled dogs had the chance to experience the beach just like any other dog.
Salima established the SFT Animal Sanctuary in Tangiers, Morocco to rescue dogs that were hit by cars and abandoned. Some of the rescued dogs sustain lifelong injuries, but Salima remains dedicated to their rehabilitation and leading a fulfilling life. She recently demonstrated the potential of rehabilitation by taking some of her dogs on a day trip to the beach. Despite only having functional front legs, the dogs kept up with her and raced from one end of the beach to the other, showcasing their resilience and adaptability.
Imagine the serene beach atmosphere being interrupted by a commotion, only to look up and witness 18 energetic pups in wheelchairs sprinting along the sand! These furry friends come in different shapes and sizes, ranging from a tiny corgi to a massive German shepherd. It’s remarkable how much of a game-changer these doggy wheelchairs are, serving as a life-saving device for disabled dogs. The fantastic thing is that they’re just as fast as their non-disabled counterparts with their wheels in place. Amidst the thrilling race, there are moments of humor, like when a cheeky corgi playfully snatches Salima’s shoe and chews on it before returning it to her. In another video of the race, a mischievous pup playfully takes a friend’s wheelchair wheel in his mouth, but they still manage to speed down the beach without any hindrance.
Salima has done an amazing job of creating a lively and joyful atmosphere for her pack of dogs. These furry friends seem to be living their best lives, and it’s heartwarming to see. The dogs have a positive outlook, and they can teach us humans a thing or two about gratitude. Often, we tend to compare ourselves to others and dwell on what we lack, even when we are not disabled.
It’s inspiring to see how dogs love and appreciate what they have without worrying about what they don’t. The heartwarming footage of Salima playing with her furry friends has received over 1.5 million views. In an interview with Story Trender, Salima shared that their sanctuary takes care of around 600 animals, from dogs and cats to donkeys and monkeys.
