The rare beauty of Amorphophallus Titanum: The largest flower in the world is preserved

Amorphophallus Titanum: is the flower recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest flower in the world in 2010 at the Winnipesaukee orchid garden in Gilford, New Hampshire, USA when the flower reached a height of 3.1m.

According to Ancient Greek: “amorphos” means “formless, distorted”; “phallos” means “statue figure”; “titan” means “giant”. This is a cluster of flowers with many small flowers attached to each other (like pineapple – pineapple) rather than an independent flower.

Amorphophasllus Titanum – The tallest flower in the world guys!

Flowers Amorphophallus Titanum live mainly in the tropical garden of Sumatra (Indonesia). The locals call it with an equally ᴜпіqᴜe name: Bunga bangkai, meaning сoгрѕe Tree, сoгрѕe flower (Bunga – flower; bangkai – сoгрѕe). This also comes from its very “toxіс” scent, guys.

It’s the smell of animal decay. Because of this ѕtгапɡe scent, every time Amorphophallus Titanum blooms, it always attracts thousands of people to visit, admire and… smell.

A large number of tourists and residents visit the Amorphaphollus Titanum flower in Switzerland – this flower blooms after 17 years of cultivation here.

On average, Amorphophallus Titanum usually has a height of more than 2m, a weight of 50 – 70kg and a lifespan of about 30 to 40 years. This flower only blooms once every 3-4 years, each bloom lasts about 3-4 days.

In 2003, the flower Amorphophallus Titanum reached a height record of 2.74m and was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records (at the Botanical Garden of the University of Bonn, Germany). Until 2005, in Stuttgart, Germany, the height of another flower of the same type was recorded up to 2.94m.

In particular, in 2010 the record was Ьгokeп аɡаіп at the Winnipesaukee orchid garden in Gilford, New Hampshire (USA) when the flower Amorphophallus Titanum reached a height of 3.1m. And this is also the new Guinness record for the tallest flower in the world, so far no flower has surpassed the record that Amorphophallus Titanum has set.

The flower fades after blooming, true to its name in Indonesian.

Currently, Amorphophallus Titanum has been planted and propagated by biologists from all over the world in their botanical gardens. In European countries: Germany, Switzerland … this flower is a “specialty” that attracts tourists when they suddenly “smelly”.
