6-Year-Old Possesses Unconventional Art Skills When Covered in Peculiar Itchy Black Fur

Meet Liu Jiangli, a 6-year-old girl whose life took a distressing turn when her parents deserted her owing to a perplexing medical condition that caused her to develop animal-like hair across her body.

Liu Jiangli, hailing from Guiyang city in Guizhou province, China, was born with an unusual black layer of hair covering 60% of her body, including her face. Overwhelmed by shame, her mother fled their home when Liu was merely 2 years old. Shortly after, her father left her at a childcare center but never returned to check on her.

The childcare center sought help through newspaper notices, desperately searching for relatives of the unique “furry” girl. Approximately six months later, Liu Mingying, a relative of Jiangli’s, stepped forward and took her under her care.

Jiangli has endured relentless ridicule due to her appearance, struggling to forge friendships with other children who were either frightened or teased her.

To this day, there’s no official diagnosis explaining Jiangli’s unusual condition. However, some medical professionals suspect she might have Hypertrichosis Universalis syndrome—a genetic mutation causing abnormal hair growth on the face and body. This syndrome is incredibly rare, affecting only about 1 in 1 billion people.

Liu Jiangli’s heartrending journey took another turn when she was adopted by a compassionate caregiver. She had been abandoned at a nursery school at the age of two, as her unique appearance terrified other children.

At six years old, Jiangli sports a dense layer of black fur on the left side of her face, with additional patches covering a significant portion of her body, including inside her left ear.

She describes her condition as itchy but not painful. Dubbed the “little monkey,” Jiangli’s father left her at the nursery one day and never returned, shortly after her mother had also left the family home.

Liu Mingying, the grandfather of one of Jiangli’s cousins, stepped in to care for the young girl. However, he worries about his ability to afford her education and fears that she will continue to face bullying due to her unique appearance.

Although Jiangli’s condition remains officially undiagnosed, it is suspected that she may have Hypertrichosis Universalis, commonly referred to as Werewolf Syndrome. Despite the challenges she has faced, Jiangli’s story now includes the love and care of a family member willing to stand by her side
