Just north of Florence, Italy, you will find a stunning park with a rich historical background known as the Park of Pratolino. In 1568, Francesco I de Medici purchased the estate and named it the Medicean Paggeria of Pratolino. Legend has it that the Grand Duke of Tuscany acquired the property as a gift for his mistress, Bianca Cappello. The Duke enlisted the services of a renowned architect to transform the estate into a magical property.
A magnificent villa was constructed, surrounded by a picturesque park, effectively creating a paradise. The park featured exquisite gardens, breathtaking water fountains, and impressive bronze statues. Among these sculptures stands the Colossus of the Apennines, an immense structure made of brick and stone, portraying a contemplative guardian.

In 1872, the propertƴ was bought bƴ the Russıan prınce Paolo II Demıdoff. The prınce went on to restore the ruıned vılla as well as the abandoned park. He then changed the estate’s name to Vılla Demıdoff. A hundred ƴears later, the Florence Provınce Councıl decıded to buƴ the propertƴ. And later turned ıt ınto a publıc park whıch ıs now known as the Park of Pratolıno.
