In the depths of despair, amidst filth and neglect, lived a poor dog named Nox before he was rescued.

At just three years old, Nox had already experienced the harsh realities of life without the care of a responsible owner or even a daily meal.

This little creature learned to fend for himself amidst the negligence of his former owner.

The Foundation 30 Millions d’Amis removed Nox from the “care” of his previous human guardian after it was revealed the deplorable conditions in which the woman kept him.

The sorrow in his eyes was heart-wrenching.

Nox resided in a makeshift shelter on the outskirts of a residence in Nuncq-Hautecôte, France. In the days leading up to his rescue, the temperature dropped to -10 degrees Celsius in that area, and it was evident that Nox had endured the brunt of the harsh weather.

The poor dog struggled to keep warm, huddling alone in a futile attempt to shield himself from the cold. His food bowls were empty, his shelter was dilapidated and on the verge of collapse, while his own waste littered the area.

The rescuers hoped that the stark reality of the creature’s condition and the state in which he was found would penetrate the heart of his former owner, so she would realize the consequences of her cruelty, neglect, and lack of love.

When will we understand that dogs are sentient beings, capable of feeling cold, hunger, and loneliness?

“He was sticky and smelled very bad. There is no doubt that he spent his time outdoors. He was covered in fleas, had patches of missing fur on his back. Not to mention the scabs… there were many! He lived in catastrophic conditions,” described Flore, a researcher from the Foundation 30 Millions d’Amis.

This sweet creature did not deserve to be condemned to such a cruel life in the elements.

Faced with a sudden inspection by volunteers from the foundation and an environmental ministry supervisor, Nox’s former owner felt intimidated and claimed she did not have enough money to care for him.

The woman readily agreed to relinquish custody of the dog to these individuals, knowing they could provide a better life for Nox.

Getting rid of that heartless woman was the best thing that could have happened to the poor dog.

There are no excuses when it comes to preserving the life and responsible ownership of a dog! It’s not a matter of poverty; it’s a matter of love.

At first, Nox appeared timid in the presence of strangers.

“The living conditions were not respected at all. Mud mixed with excrement. When we put the leash on him, he urinated on it. He must not have been used to being outside,” lamented Flore.

Despite his initial shyness, Nox’s rehabilitation was almost immediate.

He proved to be a playful dog, and with his charm, he won over a family who decided to adopt him. Undoubtedly, this will be a fresh start for him, and he is now ready to leave his past behind and all that he suffered.

We hope his story reaches every corner to shed light on the hundreds of cases of dogs abandoned to their fate in the worst possible manner, with the sole purpose of condemning them to certain death. Enough of such cruelty and lack of love!
